Hey guys,

I pre-preordered my iPhone 17 Pro Max (deep blue), completed the preorder on preorder day, and just picked it up in my nearest Apple Store. Unfortunately, it has two very visible scratches on the aluminum frame right next to the Camera Control button...

Online delivery already slipped to October - November and the iPhone is completely sold out in all 3 Apple Stores in my area.

Very disappointed right now but Apple Support suggested I try calling them again Monday morning because stock in the Apple Stores might change in the meantime.

Anyone else has gotten a scratched iPhone out of the box this year?

If it’s a warranty claim as it should be, my understanding is that they reserve stock for this purpose.

For instance, somebody might get a seriously defective device out of the box. They can’t be expected to wait weeks on end for a replacement.

Happy to be corrected however.

I had this one launch year and just walked back into the store and they used the stock they had set aside for defects and warranty replacements to get me a new one immediately.

Any pic of the scratch? I picked mine up yesterday and its flawless.
Yup, here you go:

Seems like it's not the case here. I even talked with multiple people at Apple Support about this issue to find the best solution.

The initial replacement inventory is reserved for defective devices, and not cosmetic issues depending on each store's scheduled inventory.

Stop talking to some remote support drone, and check your area stores inventory. Inventory is delivered daily for now including weekends.

Apple Support redirected me to their sales department and they said they can check every store's inventory. So they suggested I call again on Monday to see if any store has some iPhones in stock then. Fingers crossed!
