Hello guys, i got my 17 PM 256 Silver yesterday. I immediately noticed that the sound is coming from the left bottom side of the speaker, and as i remember that was on the right bottom side on my previous 16 PM. Why Apple changed that?

Also, the front speaker seems to be more loud but the distortion level also worse than previous iPhones on louder volume. What do you think?

I got the 17 pro and I also feel the same way. I have to turn down the volume because it sounds a bit distorted. I also feel the volume a lot more vibrating through the phone and maybe because it’s aluminum instead of titanium

Yeps same issue. Is the left bottom grill now the speaker while the right bottom grille now the microphone?

Edit: They swapped the location. Bottom left is speaker and bottom right is now the microphone.

To me this is a great switch, my pinky rests over the right grill on previous generations, blocking/muting the speaker causing a muffled sound, causing a need to reposition my grip often. I assume people holding right handed may now experience this issue as could now place the pinky in that area when using one handed.

Same issue here, the top speaker on my 17 Pro distorts at high volumes and I have to turn it down cause it get pretty annoying. Hope apple tweaks this with a software update.

Got the phone Friday. There is so much I like about it. The speaker situation, however, is messed up. Sound for video, speakerphone and ringtone all elicit a high pitch LOUD static sound that renders the use almost impossible. Have to adjust sound a bunch, at which point it gets a little better, but at this price point, unexpected.

I noticed this as well. First on a ProMax…only on certain songs on Apple Music. I exchanged PM for regular Pro and still same issue. It seems better on Spotify rather than Apple Music. Don’t notice it when volume is 75% or less. Nor do I notice it on YouTube videos with just talking. It’s like it’s louder so it distorts more. I hear it most on “S’s” in songs…sounds like electrical zapping.
