Hi everyone,

I just got my iPhone 17 Pro Max and I’ve noticed some strange behavior. While setting it up (connected to the charger), it got really hot and even gave me a temperature warning. I don’t remember my old 16 Pro Max heating up this much. It also struggled to charge all the way to 100% — I even had to switch to a higher watt charger.

Today I noticed another issue: the battery percentage sometimes gets stuck at a certain point. After restarting the phone, it suddenly drops by about 5–6%.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think it’s just a software issue, or could it be hardware-related?

I'm guessing software - setting up, indexing etc. My iPhone will change the battery percentage by a few points after restarting, too. I don't own the new Pro.

When setting up my 17PM yesterday via wireless phone to phone migration, the 17PM only got slightly warm during the process. Never hot. Less than 24 hours, my battery seems to be holding up well.
