Hi everyone, I have a new iPhone 17 Pro and love it, however I am noticing an intermittent annoying issue: very often when I unlock the phone and it opens to my home screen, for a brief moment I see the names of my apps but not their icons — then a moment later and the icons appear. I thought perhaps this might’ve been an iOS 26 animation/transition “feature”, but I’m noticing this phenomenon seems to happen maybe half the time, and I have no clue why. The phone is about a week old, so I’m doubtful that by now there are any significant background processes of a new phone that could be causing this “lag” at this point. Anyone else experiencing this? Any thoughts, suggestions? Perhaps it is a 26.0 “bug”? Thanks in advance! Otherwise love the phone, coming from a 13 Pro (which otherwise still holds its own IMO).

Yes there’s tons of stuttering, frame drops and redraws. It’s iOS 26 for sure and 26.1 beta does not resolve the issue either.

Thanks for sharing. Good to know, although seems very un-Apple and rather disappointing, especially in 2025 to release a stuttering iOS. And with all the power of the iPhone 17 Pro, to see this happening with just unlocking the phone to the home screen (such a basic function) is kind of crazy! If it was iOS 1, 2, or 3, with an early iPhone model, I could be more forgiving, but iOS 26 on an iPhone 17 Pro — geesh! Hoping they fix it soon! :-(
