Just a couple weeks ago we were hearing about a $50 increase, but now India has a 50% tariff. Didn't Apple move most of their iPhone production there to get away from Chinese tariffs? Do you think the iPhones are already in the US ahead of the tariff increases?

Where do you think the prices will land? Do you think US prices will be an excuse for Apple to increase the prices in other countries?

Edit: Now reporting that Apple will be "largely unaffected." How?

At least $50 because even if final assembly is in India, so much of the inputs and actual production is from China.

Apple will switch back if 50% stays on. This flexibility and responsiveness is literally part of the reason why Apple chose China in the first place.

iPhone production starts ramping in July and August, so units are already at Foxconn and Luxshare warehouses.

iPhone 17 ($850)
iPhone 17 Air ($950)
iPhone 17 Pro ($1050)
iPhone 17 Pro Max ($1250)

USD starting prices.

I think the prices will be $849 for the 17, $999 for the Air/Slim, smaller Pro with 256GB at $1149 and the Pro Max at $1249.

To be honest, my 16 Pro Max is the most expensive smartphone I have ever bought at £1199 and was probably at the maximum I want to spend. If it increased by £50, that doesn't sound a lot of money, but when the device is already very expensive, I would start to ask what the point is? I am certainly not paying for another countries tariffs and it might be wise to either keep my device for a third year, or when I do upgrade, just buy the previous years Pro device at a discount. I did that twice before and thats the beauty of iPhones not changing a huge deal year on year.
