Upgraded from base 13 to base 17. I often used my speaker at around 15-30,40 volume percent when browsing social
Media/youtube . I instantly noticed I had to have it at at least 30-40 just to hear anything at all on the 17.. quickly googled it and I got some responses about pros and then some other weird suggestion results… is anyone else noticing similar results with their speakers ?? Thank you in advance sorry for the silly question just worried
👋🏻 I’m here to assist you with your iPhone speaker issue.
First, please note when you started hearing that your iPhone speaker is quieter. Was it when you purchased the iPhone 17, or did it happen later, perhaps after dropping your iPhone, exposing it to liquid or dust, or playing music with it in the shower or at the beach? If you’ve recently installed an iOS update and it started from there, please note the build and version number of iOS 26.
Next, identify which speaker is causing the issue. The iPhone 16 and 17 base models have speakers on both the top and bottom. Refer to the diagram in the link
https://www.apple.com/iphone-17/specs/#:~:text=External Buttons and Connectors and let me know which speaker is malfunctioning.
Check the speaker for any foreign blockages. If you find any, try removing them using an AirPods cleaning pick, a clean makeup or soft art brush, or a thin toothpick.
If you’re using a case with fitted speaker holes or similar features, avoid using it as it can block the speaker grille. Additionally, ensure that your screen protector isn’t misaligned or installed upside down, as this can cause a significant blockage on the top speaker, disrupting the audio flow.
If you’re having difficulty removing the foreign object or dust from the speaker, it’s possible that it’s a result of liquid damage or that it was present when you purchased the iPhone. In such cases, if the iPhone is still within its return period (the first two weeks of use since purchase), you can get it exchanged. Alternatively, you can have your iPhone 17 checked out by an Apple Genius at an Apple Store. If the issue meets the criteria for a hardware problem, it will be addressed by the Apple Genius.
