Curious who plans to stay with the Max footprint with the iPhone 17 vs. going for the regular pro? Personally, I am tiered of carrying the PM everywhere and wonder if its time to go smaller. Anyone else having these same ideas - and why?
Yeah always about balance. I find the max weight uncomfortable to walks, hike etc. leaning proTL;DR: Undecided as of now.
I currently have the 16 Pro Max and I’ll be deciding between the base 17, 17 Pro, or 17 Air. The size of the Pro Max doesn’t bother me, it’s the weight. If the base 17 gets ProMotion/AOD there’s a good chance I could go with that.
I’ve had the Pro Max now for 4 years as it has felt better in my hands than the regular Pro. This is most likely because of the larger form factor, it seems to do a better job of distributing the weight. The Pro was OK until I added a case, then it just wasn’t comfortable.
I’m guessing the Pro and Pro Max will be similar weights to what they are currently so I guess I’ll be deciding between the 17 and 17 Air but with the reports of using aluminum maybe they’ll be lighter?
Usually I buy the latest iPhone each year but with this one I’m going to try to keep it longer than a year so I want to select the one that I think will hold up better over time. The Pro models are usually better for longevity but weight is something that’s most important to me at this point…

I have a 15 Pro Max and will be getting the 17 Pro. I like the large screen and the bigger battery of the Max, but feel that it’s a bit unwieldy.Curious who plans to stay with the Max footprint with the iPhone 17 vs. going for the regular pro? I wish Apple currently offered a phone in between the Pro Max and the iPad Mini, and it would be an instant buy for me.When Apple starts offering a size of phone somewhere between the Pro Max and the iPad Mini, then I will go bigger. Until then…I can't. So, Pro Max is it. I go for the largest size Apple offers.
I do not consume media on my devices unless I happen to be away from home, which is rare. I have 30" monitors at home and a 55" HDTV. My media is consumed on those, not the dinky little iPhone screen.
