My wife and I both got the iPhone Pro Max 17 on release day, upgrading from the 16 Pro Max. I got mine from my local Apple store, she got hers sent from Verizon - so likely they were manufactured in different batches.

On both phones there's USB sound call quality issues when calling landline and non-HD Voice numbers. During the call, I will notice a swooshing sound around the time the other party is speaking. This was not an issue with the iPhone 16 or previous models.

The sound issue is very noticeable when connected to USB earbuds or via USB to CarPlay.

Toggling the voice isolation options does not make a difference.

I’ve tried calls using Verizon and AT&T and the problem still exists, so it’s not a carrier issue.

The problem doesn't occur with playing audio from other apps other than phone calls.

Has anyone else noticed a USB connected sound quality issue during calls on the iPhone 17?
