Now that the 17's and the Iphone Air are out, will it be possible that next year, Apple will release the Iphone 17e? If so, what kinds of changes would they be likely to implement? I am someone who uses the iphone 16e, and if they release the 17e, I might upgrade.

They’ll probably upgrade it by sticking in the A19 chip and finally implementing Dynamic Islamic. A 120hz panel could be possible also.

Ok this is silly. Why not upgrade to the regular 17 then lol your upgrading from low end phone to another low end model e? So you can get 5% speed increase to play clash of clans and solitaire. They’re not touching the e for the next year or so. Why invest in the design and the factory retooling for a lower coast phone only to retool the factory and increase design cost. They’re not touching this phone with any Dynamic Island or 120hx display for years. Heck look at the se. same designed for 6 years.

This is probably true. The price point is close to the 17 which is already a bargain. Anyone with a little extra cash to spend should go for that model instead.

If they add Dynamic Island and MagSafe, while keeping the amazing battery of the 16e (or even improving on it) then it is going to be by far the best value iPhone for most users.

The biggest thing holding back the iPhone 16e is 128GB base storage. This means Apple will keep it at 128GB to maintain the value proposition of the iPhone 17.

A19 is a given along with Dynamic Island to keep it fresh.

I agree, can't see that 17e is happening. Maybe an 18e to replace the 16 model when it disapears (should be end of 2026 or beginning 2027.
That might then be a revamped 16 but with Apple chipset, faster CPU etc.

At the same time I don't understand really why Apple makes the e model anymore since its so close to the other models and not that much cheaper.
Just drop the price on the older models.

Correct. It’s only $100 cheaper than the iPhone 16 which has Dynamic Island, an extra camera and MagSafe.

Kuo, Gurman, Chinese, and the Koreans have all confirmed 17e is coming next year. Panel orders are locked in. It's only a matter of which month in 1H'26 is the device shipping.

It's the other way around, the iPhone 16 is the odd man out.

You either go low (16e) or you go high (17). The iPhone 17 offers so much more, there's no reason to go 16. Apple has recognized that by deleting the 256GB option from iPhone 16.

When 17e arrives, the iPhone 16 will probably be deleted.
