iPhone 1g locked help!!!

I have the iphone 1g and it had the software version 1.xx. So i connected to my pc and it got updated to 3.xx but now it says it is in emergency mode. When i plug it in itunes says "itunes could not connect to the ipod because it is locked with a passcode" and it wont let me enter any passcode on the phone. Please help. I was trying to unlock it.

Try a dfu restore.
Then use redsnow to hactivate and unlock if you want it carrier unlocked.

It does not let me go into restore mode cuz of the passcode.

Put it in DFU restore like the last poster said. Google "iPhone DFU" to find step by step instructions on the process. And then hacktivate/unlock if you want with redsn0w.
