I am learning to be a technician, so I have bought a broken 1st gen iphone that I have decided to fix. It needed a new screen and battery, after replacing these the phone boots up with the apple logo, it is seen by iTunes but every time I try and restore it, the phone will turn off, and I get error 1611. Sometimes though it will start up again with the apple logo, but I still get the same error.

Sometimes when the phone is turned on, it shows a white screen. It is still detectable by itunes, but again it can't be restored.

The phone will not work at all when not plugged into USB.

For anyone who knows about this stuff, is this a problem with the battery or the logic board?
