Why would this sorry excuse for a tech blog post their ridiculous rendering of the iPhone 2.0 and try to pass it off as the real deal?

It's incredibly useful to have the camera lens behind your hand. Now even iPhone pictures can look just like your point-and-shoot. It's a marvel of engineering :)
 
The iPhone is so iconic that I seriously doubt we are going to see a form factor change any time soon. The guts will change, but the size is just about optimum - you can't make it any smaller and keep it useful, and you don't want it any bigger. I expect the current format will be with use for a while.

Also - that picture lacks anywhere for the antenna to be placed - so just how is the phone supposed to work through all that metal??
 
All upgrades to the iPhone over the next 12 months are likely to be software imo (maybe an upgrade to memory).

I think we'll see something different when Intel's Silverthorne hits.

I know that ignores the calls for 3G...
