iPhone 2.1 and caps lock????

I remember in 2.0.x, and maybe previous versions but I'm not sure as the 3g is my first iPhone, you were able to double tap the caps button and of would turn blue and lock..so u don't have to hold it and type..now in 2.1 you can't double tap it..it doesn't lock..anything on that??

Settings>General>Keyboard "Enable Caps Lock".

It is not on by default.
