Well technically the Touch stems from/is a descendant of the iPhone. i.e. iPhone's software extends to the Touch not vice versa but it is confusing

previously, the OS for the iPod touch has been referred to as iPhone OS - which it is really
but did you notice yesterday with the new ipod nanos it said 'nano-chromatisch' which is actually german, on the uk website (its fixed now)

Yep, they've always called it "iPhone software for iPod Touch". It's confusing. You could even say it's verging on what Microsoft get taken the mickey for (Microsoft Windows Ultimate Premium Media Centre Edition etc.).

But then what do expect from a company that makes up words like "funnest"?
