What are your thoughts on the iPhone 2.2 software

The good,

Podcast downloads.
Google Street-view.
Improve Safari speed ( I guess this is subjective! )
Improved touchscreen response.

The bad,

No text forwarding.
Copy and Paste still not available.
MMS support not included.
The screen seems dimmer by default, had to turn mine up a bit.:p

Actually...if you happen to be a Canadian such as myself, then the list breaks down more like this.

The useless,

Google Street-view

Unless I plan on traveling to the states (or somewhere else in the world soon, this does nothing for me as currently no Canadian Cities support this)

The I'm not sure this is true

After such a wait this is pretty much a useless update in the sense that while it adds some features, it really doesn't address the lacking features that would make this phone a little more useful.

It fixed my GPS. Other than that it doesn't do anything for me. I agree with some that say the google tab on safari is ugly.

The bad,

The amount of incessant whining around here.

I agree, you should all be thrilled just to own an iPhone!! Do you not realize how privileged you are to own one....how you should be kissing Steve Jobs feet for waving his hand and saying, "I suppose...give them an update!" as he smokes a cigar made of $1000 bills.

Stop complaining people, if you complain we won't get anymore updates like this one, and I for one am happy that it added about 10% more functionality to my phone!

Here's my 2 pence worth:

- Street View is nice although I can't find anywhere in the uk that is actually covered.

- Voice input in GoogleMaps and Safari is a nice addition. Google and Apple have obviously learn't from the poor voice detection algorithm within the MobleApp as this is far more accurate. I love being able to search for directions and websites without having to type anything.

- The device is definately snappier apart from the times when it feels slower.

- Downloading podcasts is nice although a podcatcher would have been better.

- My screen seems to have a yellow tinge to it which I cannot explain.

- Thank goodness I can now finally use the microphone on my new set of deluxe in ear headphones. I have had these things for 3 weeks and have to take them off every time I recieve a call. Good sound quality though.

- The iPhone actually now chrages using my 2nd Generation iPod dock which will save me a couple of quid on a new one.

Overall, big improvement.

Thanks Steve, thanks alot.

Obviously a troll boy!

The lack of push notifications is more than disappointing since that was supposed to be ready in September and now we won't see it until at least MacWorld....

Yeah that comment lost me also.

I was hoping for more accurate GPS positioning as mentioned by a developer with a 2.2 beta release. He claimed it picked him up walking around his pool. I am guessing he has an olympic sized pool as it still puts me in the houses when I am in the middle of the road.

i think the typing on SMS is a bit laggy. maybe thats when i have a page loading in safari and i go to check a sms. So that might be understandable.

Also.. HOW do i get safari to stop re-loading webpages in tabs. It drives me nuts. I go back it it, and it reloads the same page!
