Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S11 that will launch at March 2020 will feature a 120hz display. So Apple could kindly ask Samsung to provide their 120hz displays for the iPhone 2020.

Quite interestingly, Samsung Galaxy S11 will most likely increase their battery size to 5000mAh which I assume is needed to offset the higher energy consumption of the 120hz display. So I assume the iPhone 2020 has a larger battery size as well to offset the higher energy consumption (and thus making it even fatter than the current 2019 Pro models).

Even fatter, wow... it may go from 8.1mm deep to this:

I can’t see anything useful in a 120 Hz display on a smartphone, TBH.
It would be just a marketing move.

Lol ... idc about it myself but it would help scrolling through web pages , home screen and gaming. Almost every tech place is asking for it.

Samsung makes the 90hz screens and I believe the 120hz ones as well already in market. Apple could of gone the route but didn’t. I’ll take better battery life and a brighter , better quality screen over 120hz panels

We should get both...

You’re not going to get both... 120hz takes more battery power. The iPad Pro has it but I don’t even care about it.

It does which is why the rumoured bigger batteries are coming...Apple won’t add it without looking into the impacts of it. It’s likely why it wasn’t on the 2019 models

As I said who cares. Only the tech nerds even care about it. Your mother probably doesn’t care about it. The average person doesn’t care about 120hz displays so why put it in a phone ? If you did a poll and asked random people on the street if they preferred a 120hz panel or more battery life I would bet 9 out of 10 would say more battery life. If Apple thought it was very important they could of kept LCD displays instead of OLED. At the end of the day unless they can fix battery life issues and keep the same prices of the 11 pro maybe but why would they bother if they are rumored to use MicroLED? No need to invest in OLED tech if you’re moving away from it sooner rather than later.

The average person doesn’t care but for the techies they will care.

when you use the iPad Pro you do realise how nice it is on a screen

No you don’t.... I just don’t care for 120hz panels. I would be happy with a 60hz panel on the iPad Pro

Having owned both pro model iPads with pro motion and an air2, there is a difference but it really is a slight difference. Something you have to be aware your looking for.

Strangely, the difference is not at all apparent using my Xs max which doesn’t have PM but acts like it does. I don’t think it’s needed on smartphones tbh..if there is any percievable difference then it’s downright negligible imo. My Xs max and my iPad Pro scroll/navigate pretty much Identical.

I also think it’s important not to get excited by such things to the point that it becomes a hyped requirement that manufacturers then use and promote as a “feature” to up sell a technology that has peaked out in terms of what’s upgradable when in fact 90/120hz would normally be considered a silent, natural progression in display capability.

It’s Really not a feature but manufacturers will shout about it because they hear the 120hz/pro motion buzz words and hype and run with that as a sell-able feature that would have otherwise been included as maybe an element of a manufacturers signature/experience..Let’s face it they are literally scraping barrels in terms of what can be upgraded annually
