iPhone 2G 8gb will only charge in the car!!!!

I have dropped it a few times and is due to be sent off for either repair or a new one as soon as i can back up all the information that is on there.

Unfortunatly the phone will not charge via a plug socket or via the computer only in my car via the car charger so cannot back it up and save the data.

Normally i'd just bite the bullet but it has pictures of my newborn son on there i dont want to lose!!!!

Any suggestions would be gratefully appriciated

Don't know what the problem is with why you can't charge, but if you want to get the pictures off use sharepod (freeware) or one of the other free programs to do this.

Hey, my phone just did the same thing. Only charges in car... I'm curious, did you ever figure out what the issue was? Did you have to replace the battery? Were you able to get your pics off?
