iPhone 2G Activation Help.

I know I've posted a thread about this before, but I finally found a SIM card and need to know what to do further. This is an old iPhone that I used when the iPhone came out, and I kinda want to use it now.

So this SIM I have was previously used on a Phone line on my Family Plan. That number the SIM was registered to is still in service, but the SIM isn't... The numer is now on a different SIM card.
I plug it in, and try activate VIA iTunes, and it's giving me plan rates and such to start the sim card again.
I don't think that a SIM can be re-registered, but I'm not sure and wanted to ask for some help before I go through the process. (I don't want another ugly phone line on my bill)

call att and they will set it up for u...I did mines last week over the phone unlimited data and text 40 dollars.
