Iphone 2G charger safe for charging 3GS?

Hello,

I have the original 2G iphone charger. Is it safe to charge my 3GS with it?

I use my 3GS charger for both my 2G and 3GS, but I wanted to make sure it was safe to use the the 2G charger on the 3GS as the 3GS is much more valuable at this point...
