On my original iPhone 2G I have a weird issue where the dock cable has to be 'held' or put in a very exact position and then not touched for the iPhone to charge. Even then it can often randomly stop which isn't great on a morning waking up to a flat battery!

I don't think it is the cable as I tried a couple, also it doesn't matter if I am charging via PC or AC.

Once the battery does charge it does keep the charge.

Any ideas? Trying to hold off a new phone until the 4S or 5!

I found my dock, when it is placed in that it will charge perfectly so I just carry that around with me now :)
