I have an original iPhone and am looking for a new pair of headphones. I have gone through 3 pairs of the stock ones and im sick of it. Im looking for good sound, a mic built in and for it to work with the recessed jack. Any ideas? Anyone try the new apple in-ears with the original iPhone? I know there not officially supported but was wondering if there was any compatibility. I love listening to music and need decent sound quality. Never been a fan of skullcandy sound so don't suggest those.

Thanks in advance.

Can you use any headphones with the iphone 2g?
Do you need special headphones for the first generation iphone? Or can you just use any ipod headphones

The original iPhone has a recessed headphone jack so you either have to have special headphones OR buy an adapter.

To the OP: The new higher end Apple in earphones ($79) have received very favorable reviews and are considered a bargain buy because they sound like they should cost a lot more.

Do the new in-ears work with the recessed headphone jack?

Anyone heard if the mic works or not on the 2G iPhone

Why are you worried dear. I am big fan of skullcandy and right now using the same. why don't go ahead and buy a new skullcandy headphones.

Ultimate Ears 4vi are pretty good. It has the inline mic as well. It's lacking in bass but the mids and highs are crisp. I'm happy with mine. Supposedly the 5vi are better but I'm not sure if they'll fit the 2G.

I used v-moda vibe duo w/ mic headphones for my 1st gen iphone. They are amazing and I use them still to this day. They are $100 but I just bought a new pair (new version) for only $62 shipped (ebay).

I love them because they are noise-isolating in-ear headphones (I need them for NYC streets/subways) and work wonders. Love the fact you can one click play/pause and double click shuffle/skip tracks. I never have to take the phone out when I use the ipod.

Only headphones I love and I've tried them all (ex apple employee).
