Hey guys, my brothers iPhone 2G died and he took it to apple but they just said it was a "hardware problem" and it's not worth fixing (he's out of warranty). He has since bought a 3Gs and he was going to sell it but since he can't turn it on to wipe his data he decided not to.

He also opened it up after he decided to sell it so the back on the phone is all jacked up.

Is there a way to wipe the phone even though it won't turn on?
What would you guys do with it? Is it worth parting out for a little cash or just use it as a paper weight?

i had good luck taking my 2g out of warranty to my apple store because the touch screen didnt work, they asked me if i have a mac and i said yes, then he went to have a talk with his manager and came back saying they want to keep me happy and he gave me a new iphone YEY! :D:D
just shows you how different people can be.

my broken iphone was in mint condition btw.

i would try one more apple store, if not then sell it on ebay or something.. you will get like $90 for it
