Hi, i have a jailbroken iphone 2G, with the 3.1.2 (7D11 ) firmware.

i receive wi fi , but im unable to connect to the internet.

I have reseted the network settings, reseted my modem , i also have a "strange" icon on the top right corner of my iphone.

i say strange because i dont know what it means , but i also dont know if it is somehow related to my problem.

here is a photo of it :

can anyone help me ? how can i give you more details of my problem ?

thanx !

The icon is TTY. It's for people who are hard of hearing. To turn it off go into the Phone settings and flip the switch off. As per the WiFi, are you getting an IP address and are other wireless computers on the same network connecting properly?

Yes i do have an IP adress, my sister can go in internet on her iphone , and my macbook also.

i also have a submask , but the router and dns fileds are blank.

i have tried the http proxy to off manual and auto , but still cant go in internet.

I also have the DHCP mode, but there is also the BootP and static mod.

should i change anything ?

thnx !

The IP address, is it similar to that on the Macbook or iPhone?

Example: The Macbook is 192.168.1.4 and the 2G iPhone is 192.168.1.7.

Nope

my macbook has this :

192.168.1.35

and my iphone this :

169.254.167.171

also, i need to have data roaming on, in order to have an ip adreess, otherway i dont have an ip adress.

thanx

The iPhone is not getting an IP address from the router correctly. It should start with 192, not 169. Try forgetting the WiFi network then re-adding it. Also what kind of router do you have?

i did that.

forgot the net.

i re selected, entered the password, and it gets the same ip adresss.

the modem is from "Telefonica" a spanish phone company

8(

any other idea ?

thanx !

You can try manually giving it one. Try 192.168.1.44. Just make sure that the 1.44 address isn't in use on the network already. To manually give the iPhone an address, switch the tab from DHCP to Static.

i do that, but after i go out of network settings and come back , it goes back to the other "wrong" ip adresss

¿?

thanx

I'm out of ideas. Have you tried restoring the iPhone in iTunes and not restoring it from a backup?

sorry brother, it doesnt change.

i had http proxy set dhcp .

but still cant go in internet..

strange...

may have to go to an apple center for help

thanx !!!!

The issue isn't with the iPhone. I'm guessing it's with the wireless router. Have you tried restarting it and any cable/DSL modem you might have?
