Hi all

it's been awhile since updating my iphone (jailbroken) and it's currently on version 3.0... now do I update to each version to get upto version 4.0 or can I jump a few ??

I have quickpwn and cedia/winterboard... I always forget which is the best way to update though.

thanks for your help

Highest you can go is 3.1.3 that's it.

thanks - I was just wondering that as I can't seem to find anything for the 2g

is it better to use pwnage or redsnow?
did try blackrain but I don't think that's working... or at least I've got the wrong end of the stick!

stuck!!!

I'm stuck in recovery mode!!!

the iphone just shows an image of a usb under the itunes logo...

I've tried redsn0w and it goes through the motions but then sticks on rebooting... does nothing after that.

think I'm gonna cry now

Dont cry, dry your eye:)
Restore to 3.1.3 again thru itunes and try redsnow again.
Make sure you have the correct ipsw downloaded to point redsnow to and make sure you're not pointing it to a 3G or 3GS ipsw.

well, I dried my eyes and tried this and many other things... now I'm back to bawling:(

I'm at the recovery screen - the usb and the itunes logo image and I can make emergency calls but that's it!
Redsn0w just says my ipsw isn't recongnisable
the only one that will work is iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
on the next screen it gives the options to 'install Cydia' and 'install Icy' but no unlock!!?
I get to the 'waiting for reboot' but that's as far as I get!

I might have to buy an ipod just so that I can at least listen to music in the meantime!!

any suggestions? are their shops that help with this or do they charge a lot?

thanks for your help :)

well that worked up to a point.
I seem to be looping - redsn0w said it was complete and the rest will be done on the phone.
Now it just keeps rebooting and text shows on the screen

sat on this screen now...
iphone 1.jpg

iphone 2.jpg

iphone 3.jpg

after taking that pic it went back to the apple logo then started again... next two pics...

I recently got a 2G and attempted to JB using pwnagetool 3.1.5 pointed at a 3.1.3 ipsw. Everything worked fine, but then I noticed Cydia would never load, it just sat at "loading data" forever. I figured something had gone wrong so I'm trying to do it with JBMe.com right now...should I try again with pwnagetool? Is it better suited for a 2G?

Same thing happen to me a few days ago when I JB an iphone 3G.
Cydia took a good 15 minutes reloading data but it finally went thru.
I say give it some time to finish doing what its suppose to.
The 2G and 3G iphones are pretty slow.

it's back!

Weird, is that verbose boot? Or something that messed up during the JB?
I say put it in DFU mode and restore it again to official 3.1.3
Then try the whole thing again.

I think something went wrong via iTunes!
after seeing the above screens I kept trying again but itunes would never see my iphone... after trying again and again for what feels like forever  it finally worked... I now have a mild headache

it's up and running... and I will never try this again :D

thank you for your help and pointing me in the direction of the correct ipsw (did actually have that one too... but did have the old version of redsn0w)
I had several ipsw and was frankly getting confused as I had tried doing this for about 5 days now!!!

cheers
:D

Yeah I'm going to try again with pwnage because I need to hacktivate. Oddly enough though when it was done with jailbreakme, cydia had no issues and loaded right away.

Just wanted to report back and say that cydia works fine after fresh pwning, just had to let it finish loading like you said. Except now I got a new problem on my ip4 with app store crashing if it's in a categories folder :(
