Hi, I've been given an old (and battered to be honest) iPhone 2G, and the screen has lots of dead pixels on it. The phone has never been activated (as it's always been jailbroken), as stated on Apple's site.

Anyway, obviously it's out of warranty - but I'm wondering if I could get an iPhone 3G if I pay the $146.29 OOW replacement price? I'd of course activate it before I took it there (using a PAYG SIM somewhere), although it's going to look strange having an iPhone 2G activated a few days ago!

In the US, out of warranty replacements are the same model. (i.e. if you give them an iPhone 2G, they'll replace it with an iPhone 2G) Not sure if it works differently where you're at.
