Is it possible for me to install the 3.0 GM without being in the developer program?

If so, where do i find it?

According to 9to5mac you can install the GM release without being a developer or needing a code of any kind. They've done it and it works fine. I don't know where you can get a copy but I know it will work. I think I'll just wait until next week.

i have done it on my 3g itunes unlocked australian iphone, i am in the UK and it is still unlocked and have all features (MMS) working on prepaid in the UK. It was incredibly simple and all works fine.

yeah it works fine on my 3G in Canada on Rogers.
Found it an hour after the keynote just by googling "iPhone 3.0GM torrent"

Just installing this now. Hopefully it'll go according to plan!

One worry I have: I'm due to go to the Apple store on Saturday and get a replacement, due to dust under the screen. They won't take one look at it, see I've got 3.0 and refuse to have anything to do with me until the official release will they?

I dont see how they could since upgrading to 3.0 doesnt make dust under your screen. :-/

Has anyone with ATT tried this...not talking about developers but just "average joes"

This thread wont last much longer, but just to let you all know...

... Torrent works fine, I've been using 3.0 all day. It's pretty slow and sluggish thought. The final, final version will hopefully fix that and if not, 3.1 will. There are some teething problems, but not much you can't live with. Enjoy.

Are you in the US?

speed is quite decent for me, slightly sluggier than 2.2.1 but not much.

Cut n paste rocks

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it's not THAT bad, but it is noticeable. Nothing a little tweaking here and there wont fix. Moving apps is the most noticeable sluggishness for me.

Had a few hangs opening Mail and Safari also.

Same here, all up and working! :)

Feels great to have MMS back, seems weird getting excited about a dated concept :)

Yeah, the iPhone finally has caught up with 5 years ago. Although I think I confused O2 this morning. I sent a picture message to my GF, it was working. O2 then sent me a message saying it wasn't working, then it was and then said it wasn't again... Strange people.

The reliability of my phone is far more important than getting a 1 week jump on OS 3, so I'm definitely waiting.

But this, plus a few performance tweaks and minor bug fixes, is what you'll be getting in a week...

Absolutely... and by the looks of things.. its excellent and my battery life suddenly sucks and it certainly runs hot! We might have to wait untill 3.0.1 for the prima stable version!
