iPhone 3.0 power down problem

for some reason I try to power down my iPhone after updating to 3.0 and it just hangs in that 'loading' screen

not sure how to get it out of it and it's on a full charge so it should take a while to power down (by running out of power)

suggestions?

EDIT: nevermind, managed to restart it.
