So I used http://iphonespeedtest.com/speedtest and thought I would share my results. I tested it 10 times for each connection and took the average. I also posted my ethernet speeds at home as a comparison (also with Rogers).

I'm on a 2.26Ghz 13" MBP using iPhone 3G on the Rogers network in Waterloo, ON.

Ethernet (High-speed at home)
1501.1 kbps avg (507 kbps low, 2123 kbps high)

Tethering (USB)
506.4 kbps avg (368 kbps low, 659 kbps high)

Tethering (Bluetooth)
495.7 kbps avg (216 kbps low, 827 kbps high)

I didn't run speed test but I'll tell you it was incredibly fast.

I tried it on 2 machines, a 3.2Ghz quad core with 4 gigs ram and Win7 and a older dual core 1.6ghz laptop with 4 gigs of ram.

Switching between it and my cable modem it was hard to tell the difference just doing some regular browsing.

Our mini is in the bedroom and as soon as I popped on the tethering it came up and said it found a new network device.
