iPhone 3G 2.1 and iTunes 7.7?

Hey everyone

Just a quick question, does the iphone 3g 2.1 firmware work with iTunes 7.7? as i find iTunes 8 very slow whilst searching the iTunes store. I never had any problem before with iTunes 7.7
