Im currently running an Iphone 3g jailbroken (via spirit) and unlocked to take my 3 sim..

is it worth updating the software to 4.0+ as a lot of apps seems to be 4.0+ nowadays

if I do what will I need to use to jailbreak/unlock it and what software is best?

Cheers Ben:)

My recommendation is stay at 3.1.3 which is best for 3G. Once you go to 4.+, 3G is very slow.

I currently have iPhone 3g running on 3.1.3, and I highly recommend DO NOT UPGRADE TO 4.X. When I first bought my iphone on craigslist it was running 4.0 and that thing was extremely slow. I had to downgrade it back to 3.1.3 and it is much quicker now. If you want to run 4.x then I recommend either buying a 3gs or iphone 4.

I have a 3G with 4.2.1. non-jailbroken and runs very slow. Can anyone quickly tell me the steps to wind up with a 3.1.3 jailbroken 3G iPhone?
