Hello,

I was looking for a used iphone. I'v meet around 5 people over Kijiji (local classified) as well as checked photos of a few iphone 3g and 3gs on buy and sell forums.

And every single of them (I'v seen at least 6) has a crack around the doc connector area, around 2 to 3 cm long. I am interested in a white 3gs 32g that has the same problem.

just wondering is this a common problem of 3g, 3gs? Does it matter a lot? Will the crack getting worse over time, affecting its resale value as well?

It's a common problem. Apple will replace the phone if it hasn't been abused. It's a manufacturing defect seen in the white phones.

Black ones crack too. If its a big deal buy a new back and replace it just a couple of screws and about $40 then it looks like new.

Are they going to replace it even if it is out of warranty and you bought from some one else? unlikely, right.
