iphone 3G activation bypass?

Hi

I have been waiting for baseband 05.14 unlock for quite sometime and now it appears that the only way to unlock is to download ultra-snow through Cydia and unlock using an ipad baseband.

My iphone 3G is stuck at the activation screen (BB 05.14, ios 4.1) and I don't have the original sim card. Even If I jailbreak it, I think it's not gonna bypass the activation screen. Without bypassing the activation screen, access to cydia/ultra-snow is not possible.

Is there any way around this?

Use Redsnow to JB and hackivate (bypass activation). Regarding unlock, you should read up on risk of using iPad baseband before deciding if it's worthwhile to do it.

Ok. So I just got redsnow 0.9.6 (for windows) and a copy of ios 4.1. So If I proceed with this, I should be able to bypass the activation screen and have an ipod with BB 05.14?

Or Do I need the latest ios 4.2 to make this work?
