iPhone 3G Apple Care

I read some of the older threads from last year and it sounded like a lot of you didn't purchase Apple Care for your 1st gen iPhone. Think it would be a good idea to buy it for the iPhone 3G? With all this talk about light leaks, faulty batteries, and unstable OS, I'm considering it...

I'm almost positive that if you use an AMEX card, it extends the warranty up to an additional year. Considering this is the route I chose, and I know I am not unique, I will attest to the fact that numerous forum members also did this.
