iphone 3g apps store app id and password

My daughter has an Iphone 3g which was my wifes. It was synced to my wifes Itunes and we want to change it to my daughters Itunes. We have gone to settings>store and changed the app id and password to my daughters, but everytime we have to update the apps it comes up with my wifes app id and have to enter her password. We also cannot sync my daughters itune music to this phone either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The apps that were already on it remain on your wife's ID , so you need your wifes id to update, only new apps bought on the phone will be on your daughter's id now you have changed it to the new ID.
