An unauthorised Apple iPhone reseller has promised to deliver unlocked iPhone 3G handsets from a Hong Kong supplier selling for $775 and $875 in the week following the release of the long awaited Apple product in Australia on July 11. The reseller, based in Melbourne, claims to have already sold several hundred original iPhones to Australian customers. http://www.itwire.com/content/view/18936/1151/

Just doing some general reading, and came across this article.
Does anyone think that the price of an iPhone 3G will get this high to begin with, whether bought outright/pre-paid or not?

I am assuming these will be sold unlocked by Apple for that high. Although there is still that exclusivity agreement... Maybe I am wrong though.

maybe it will suddenly rain down 3G iPhones....
causing mass damage to buildings and cars, whiel the general public sustain serious head injuries....

but if you are lucky enough to catch one.......

************************************************************************************

seriously though, prices simply cant be this high, they would mirror the exact cost for an iPhone at the moment in Australia...

People said the same thing after the launch of the iPhone.

Took much longer than a week to unlock it.

People were advertising 3G iPhones on eBay. eBay yanked all the listing though. I am curious to see how long it takes someone to actual resell a 3G phone, with all of the hype and precautions both Apple and AT&T are putting in place to prevent it.

We were knew to the software. Do you think 2.0 is completely rebuilt from 1.0 so it can't be hacked?

I give it a week. 2 at most.

Do you think Apple does not know how the original phone got hacked? So that will not be possible again?

Im certain they know how it got hacked but that wont prevent the 3G iphone from being hacked as well.

You heard it here first....the 3G iphone will be unlocked by July 29, 2008.

ah, but thing is whether that hack release is a *stable* one and not just something that has a 60:40 chance of bricking your phone.

i plan to wait a little longer then that.
besides, i dont want my only phone to be stuffed up, i dont have replacements for it nor the cash to buy another one.

It has a different radio/modem than the first one.

What makes you folks think it will be the same trick to unlock it?

I think it will take a while.

Jailbreak should be fairly quick, I think the unlock will take longer.

i dont really care about unlocking to tell you the truth.
all i want is the Jailbreak to instal 3rd party apps that arent apart of the Apps Store.
