The iPhone 3G from Hong Kong is not carrier locked. :)

Please note the warranty for a phone for the Hong Kong market is only available in China. No warranty service in any other country. This is standard for all iPhone 3G units.

Yes, the term is "Jailbroke" and that is allows you to add applications that are not hosted in the Apple App Store and make customizations to the springboard and other setting.

Unlocked allows any GSM Carrier SIM to be used in the iPhone 3g.

so comparing them side by side there is no difference. right?

so what i am getting form this is that the apple iphone that is bought in the US is locked to ATT yet the china iphone is unlocked. both being the same but one is unlocked and the other isnt

so it syncs with itunes and everything?

how about the back? whats written on it?

Look, an iPhone 3G is an iPhone 3G. No difference between the two products, except one you can use with other carriers and the other one is locked to a specific carrier.

You do realize that all the iPhone 3Gs are made in China. They all look the same on the front and the back. What do you really want to know, just explain what you want to know in a single post. You can ask more then one question at a time.

The iPhone 3G serial number and IMEI are printed on the SIM tray. If it has two (2) SIM card slots then it is a fake. Oh and if it can't sync with iTunes then it's a fake.

These are the valid part numbers for iPhone 3g sold in the Hong Kong Market: MB489ZP/A, MB496ZP/A, MB500ZP/A. If one of these are not on the packaging, then it is not really a Hong Kong iPhone 3G phone.

Dave

nothing different. iPhone 3G China version is just the same as iPhone 3G in any other countries.

Is it already out? I can't find something official also stating either what I read was true or not: iPhones 3g sold in China would not have 3g or wifi
