Iphone 3g - dead - not booting - update o/s to fix?

I have an Iphone 3G, unlocked 3.0.1 (originally locked to AT&T), wifi not working, it does not boot up but powers on. I was told it just needs to have the latest os update.

So just to clarify are these the steps I should take.

1) Use Itunes 9.2 to upgrade the ios to 4.0 & 05.13.04 Baseband

2) Use redsn0w Current Version Windows: 0.9.5 b5-5 which will jailbreak it and hacktivate it.

3) Use Cyder II to install the http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com repo directly to the phone as the wifi does not work.

4) Unlock with ultrasn0w
