iphone 3g digitizer unresponsive with good screen

The touch screen does not work. I swapped the screen onto another 3g and it works. I took the screen off a working 3g and it does not work on my phone. Is there any way to trouble shoot the digitizer connection on the mainboard? The home button and the sleep button work. The LCD works fine. I have restored the firmware so it isn't a software problem that I know of.

I am stumped...

Check your ribbon #1 connection.

The connection on the screen is fine. I looked at the board and there does not seem to be any obvious deformities to it. Is there any way to troubleshoot the connector with a multi-meter? What would I be looking for?
