hi does anybody know if the iphone 3g dock connector will work in a 3gs,

i have a 3gs with a broken dock connector, (see pic)

and i also have a 3g that has been barred from uk networks and wanted to salvage the dock connector for the 3gs if it was possible.

does anybody know if they are compatible with each other or do i need to buy a new part,

thanks
glen

The 3G dock connector and 3GS version is not identical and not interchangable. The 3G has the antenna commentor on the bottom of the logic board, whereas the 3GS connects via a pair of wire to the top of the logic board (the antenna that is part of the dock connector. You can get the part on eBay for under 10 bucks shipped free.
