I just bought an iPhone 3G off of eBay and it is running firmware 4.1. My question is, is it possible to downgrade it to 4.0 for unlocking or have they come out with an unlock for 4.1?

This is showing how to downgrade from iOS 4 to 3, but I think the process is similar for any other OS.

Unfortunately you cannot downgrade baseband, therefore downgrading it to 4.0 wouldn't help. I say this because there is only a very small subset of iPhone 3G's that have a certain version of Bootloader, version 5.8, that may be able to have their baseband downgraded.

With that said, there is currently no unlock available for the baseband that is included with 4.1 firmware.

Damn, I'm SOL I just checked my phones info with f0recast, I'm on 6.8 :/

I'm btw in the same situation, upgraded too hastily and now i'm stuck.
