iPhone 3G earpiece volume very low

Is there software to boost that volume beyond the limit? The issue on the phone I have is hardware but I'm hoping that there is a software solution. I know there is software to boost the speaker but I need one for the earpiece... I've been looking everywhere with no luck.

Make sure you dont have your volume limit on in the ipod/music settings. Also, have you tried other headphones? I've noticed different headphones and earbuds can have wildly varying volumes. As for software, if there is, you would probably have to jailbreak for it.
