iPhone 3G error 46

I have an iphone 3g and its currently stuck on "usb+itunes" screen. I tried to restore to 3.1.3 and 4.2.1, when I try to restore to 3.1.3 it gives me error code 6 and when 4.2.1 it give me error code 46. Ive spent hours trying to research this, but no solution yet.
If anyone has had this problem, please let me know! im DYING!
