So I have the 3G unlocked and using it on Bell's network. How can I get iOS4 onto it? I am currently on 3.1.2 and my baseband is 04.26.28. Do I have to upgrade to 3.1.3 or can I jump to 4?

Just update your iTunes to 9.2 and then the update to iOS4 will work fine. Then use Redsn0w 0.9.5 to jailbreak it and then ultrasn0w will unlock it for you, hope this helps

That makes complete sense. I'll try that out. And if the worst happens can I use a back up of what I'm on right now to restore?

nope, baseband doesnt downgrade

but listen, when you jailbreak, you need to have the GM candidate release on your pc/mac. Why? when you jailbreak, and you have to load your firmware, the jailbreak NEEDS the GM. IE you browse and choose the GM fw file. BUT you can officially upgrade.
