iPhone 3G internet access problem

Hi,

I have a iPhone running iOS 5.1.1.

What I find is that when I am accessing the internet via 3G and I have connected to a WIFI router as well ( router not necessarily having internet access), after about 90secs, 3G internet access stops and the iPhone switches to WIFI internet access. This happens automatically even though I did'nt chose the WIFI.

Could someone help me understand what exactly is happening and what the solution could be ??
