Iphone 3g Jailbreak Unlock HELP!!

hello everyone, someone has asked me to unlock their iphone. I'd do this by using Redsn0w and Ultrasn0w as I've been into iphones and ipods for ages so know what I'm doing with that, however....

I will be carrying this out on my laptop which will obviously involve the iphone being formatted which they don't mind, but when they plug it back in on their computer what will happen, will it all have to be erased including the jailbreak and unlock???? thanks Mike

PS the iphone is on 4.2.1

If its on 4.2.1 the only way to unlock would be to install the ipad bb.
And that comes with many sides, let them know before you do it.

yes I know Ill have to instll the ipad bb but will it work so they can still sync to there computer without losing anything once I have jailbroken it?, I'm presuming so as I won't be touching itunes

Yes, they wont lose anything and will sync fine.

Thanks for that do you know if theres anyway around stopping redsn0w itself downloading the ipad firmware as where I will be doing it I won't have access to the internet :/ only mobile which is fine for downloading ultrasn0w but awful for like a 500mb file
