iPhone 3G - Jailbroken with iOS 4 GM - How to disable Gradient Shadows?

Can anyone tell me how to disable Gradient Shadows on the springboard? I have my phone Jailbroken, but cannot seem to figure out how to disable Gradient Shadows to help with the performance. Having a background Home Screen Wallpaper is cool, but it does slow down the return to the springboard and makes the phone appear sluggish on my iPhone 3G.

SSH into the phone and go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app and take out the one that says iconshadow. the one with T should be for text. I left that one. Removing the icon one though helps alot.
