iPhone 3G laying flat on table

I think a few of us (myself included) were wondering if the new iPhone 3G would lay flat on a table despite its curved back. Well, I left a comment on the Boy Genius Report post about the 3G unboxing asking this very question, and he replied back saying that it does in fact lay flat, so yay!

I would think that was pretty obvious if you look at the profile shots (from the bottom or top) -- the whole back is not curved, only the edges. There's clearly still a flat spot.
