iphone 3g locked up on startup.....

hi ebveryone. i have to say that i have unfortunatley had nothing but problems with my new iphone. it was much more stable on the previous system software. after apps crashing on me all the time and having to restore the phone 5 times in a week, now it has just completely locked up on the apple startup screen. itunes sees the phone after about 5 minutes but it wont let me restore the software. seriously i am stuck.....any ideas?

Turn off the phone. While holding the home button, dock the iPhone. Keep holding the home button until the "connect to iTunes" graphic shows up. Then restore the iPhone.
