I went to replace the back on my 3g and when assembling it I had trouble getting the MB spring to touch the chrome bezel. The chrome bezel didn’t seem to want to stay down on the back so when I installed the MB the ground spring would not touch the bezel. I tried to bend it up....dumb move, as it popped right off the MB. I think I didn’t have the speaker parts above the bezel so that’s why the bezel was lifting off the back, but it’s to late now as the spring is off the MB. I was wondering:

1) Do I need this for the phone to work?
2) Is it possible to resolder this spring back on the MB?

Well I went ahead and soldered the ground/antenna spring back onto the mother board. Wasn’t as hard as I thought it might be. The phone is working again.
