Hello

This morning I had the surprise to see that the "phone" icon had disappeared from the task bar.
I researched it and cold not find anything ......
I decided to restore it to 3.1.3 and the phone icon came back...put once I restore my backup onto the Iphone, the icon disappeared....

Can anyone help with this?

A little background......I had OS4 on it and was not happy...the phone crashed and was very slow....I downgraded to 3.1.3....this was one month ago.....

Did you fix this problem? If so, how?

I just found this thread on a Google search for the same issue - missing iPhone phone icon. Mid-conversation with a client, call dropped out, couldn't return call because phone icon had evaporated. WTF!!!???

It's a 3G upgraded to 4 software.

UPDATE: Fixed!

THE PROBLEM: (Blindingly obvious once you know where to look of course). The phone bulks multiple icons together under one heading. Did you know? Me neither. And I thought the 4 main system icons at the bottom on 4 software were fixed, since only the others scroll, not so. I only discovered this by going to iTunes and clicking the App tab, which was large enough to notice some strange looking App buttons, which when clicked, revealed multiple App icons, one of which was the phone, which I then dragged back to where it was. After the sync, it's now back to normal.

Settings-General-Reset-reset home screen layout. Sorted:)

Thanks ! I came across a few dozen solutions which mainly suggested a full factory reset which I figured is idiotic for just one icon gone MIA. Thank you for pointing out how easy the solution is, worked for me perfectly.
